People ask us, “Where is home?” “When asked the question I usually hesitate,” says Ron. “I have to think, ‘Well, my wife and I grew up in Florida. We lived in Louisiana for eight years while in college and seminary, and we have been in Japan for over twenty years.’” For the Reynolds’ home seems to be more Japan than any other place. Visiting parents, three grown children, and two grandchildren, insures the strings to the US stay intact. But even when the Reynolds return to the US for stateside assignment it doesn’t take long to begin missing the country, people, and daily life they have become accustomed to. “We know God has called us to Japan to share the Good News with the 127 million people living here,” Ron says. For Ron & Cindy living in Japan is not a sacrifice but a privilege. They are not the first to serve God in another country. Peter wrote in his first letter, “I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the lands of . . .” Paul spent years traveling and supporting himself in order to take the Gospel to the Gentile world. So to live in Japan seems like a small price to pay.
In Cindy’s endeavor to constantly meet Japanese and share the Gospel, she has joined a trekking club made up of Japanese women. As the group climbs different mountains Cindy has opportunities to share her faith in a very natural way. Ron has met a Christian business man recently. He hopes that together they will be able to share with many Japanese business men.
